ARCHISTRUCTERIOR an “Iron Chef” type live competition where teams of students and professionals join together to build full scale construction in celebration of the CCSF
Department of Architecture’s 60th Anniversary. Teams of students, faculty and local professionals will create structures whose design reflects aspects of specific neighborhoods in San Francisco as its subject matter, building upon the rich cultural, social, ethic and diverse populations of this great city.
At the end of the competition, these neighborhood sculptures will stand in Justin Herman Plaza as attribute to the diverse traditions and peoples of San Francisco...as well as the natural and rich synergy the Architecture Department enjoys with the people of San Francisco!
- Teams are composed of enthusiastic students who want to get out of class and professionals who want a day off work.
- Teams must use components assembled from two kit of parts: one kit provided by the school and another kit creatively assembled by the team before the day of the competition.
- No other parts of any kind are allowed beyond the two kits of parts.
- Teams have only 4 measly hours to construct their complex structures.
- Our all-star cast of celebrity judges will carefully examine all constructions for creativity, originality.
- Fabulous awards are handed out and everyone stands back to admire the teams’ work.
